Shopify development services for stores that need things done.
Most requests fall into one of five buckets. If yours doesn't, send it anyway. A lot of the useful work I do is the odd job nobody else wanted to touch.
Theme fixes and changes
Layout bugs, broken mobile views, a section that needs one more setting, a template for a new product type. I work on a duplicate of your live theme and keep changes inside Shopify's normal theme structure so updates stay possible.
New store features
Things your theme doesn't do out of the box: bundles shown a certain way, size guides per collection, custom product options, metafield-driven content, filtered landing pages. If an app already does it well, I'll say so before writing code.
App setup and conflicts
Installing and styling apps so they look like part of the store. Tracking down the app that broke the cart drawer or doubled a script. Cleaning out code left behind by apps you uninstalled months ago.
Speed work
Oversized images, render-blocking scripts, sliders loading on every page, leftover app code. I measure first, fix the things that actually move the numbers, and measure again so you can see the difference.
Store builds
New Shopify stores, either from your designer's files or with design included through Abra. Products, collections, navigation, policies, shipping settings and a theme your team can edit.
Something else
Integrations, data imports, odd checkout rules, a migration from another platform. If it touches Shopify, ask.
How I decide between code and an app
A lot of Shopify requests can be solved two ways: install an app, or build the feature into the theme. Neither is always right.
Apps are faster to start and someone else maintains them. They also add monthly fees, load their own scripts and sometimes fight with each other. Custom theme code costs more up front, but it loads with the page, does exactly what you asked and has no subscription.
My rule of thumb: if a well-reviewed app does the job cleanly and the fee is small next to your sales, use the app. If you're stacking three apps to get one feature, or an app is slowing down every page, building it into the theme usually pays off.
Sections your team can edit
When I build into the theme, I build it as a section or block with settings in the theme editor. Your team can change headings, images and colors themselves. That is the same idea behind Abra Sections, my app of ready-made sections for Shopify themes.
Good to send with a request
- Your store URL
- The theme name and version
- Screenshots or a short screen recording
- Which apps are installed, if it might be app related
- Any deadline, like a launch or a sale
Need more than fixes and features?
I also provide ongoing support after the work is done, and design work when a store needs more than code. You can see past projects in Abra's portfolio, or get in touch and tell me what you have in mind.
Tell me what's broken, or what's missing.
I'll read through the store and send back a written estimate.
